1973 Dodge Dart Swinger – Sold?

Produced from 1967 through 1976, Dodge’s venerable Dart was once a very common sight on American roads.  In order to comply with the Federal Government’s new five mile-per-hour regulations, for 1973 Darts received a completely new front styling featuring a massive front bumper.  Additionally, new side-impact guard beams in the doors and new emission control devices found their way onto these models.  During this time, Dodge applied the “Swinger” name two-door hardtops except in the high-line Custom series. Originally listed in December 2020 on Craigslist in Harrisville, Rhode Island (Providence) was a claimed 26K mile unmolested Dart Swinger survivor that we believe sold for the asking price of $8,500.

The Collector Car Market Review Online Tool confirms the ask currently falls between this guide’s #3 “Good” estimate of $5,700 and its #2 “Very Good” appraisal of $9,000. Similarly, using the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool as a second data point confirms the private seller has their Swinger priced between this guide’s #4 “Fair” estimate of $6,600 and its #3 “Good” appraisal of $9,100.

With only 26K original miles and equipped with air conditioning, power brakes, and Chrysler’s venerable 225 cubic inch “Slant Six”, this appears to a nicely preserved example right down to what is likely the original black vinyl top.  Overall, this low-mileage survivor Dart will make a great Antique Automobile Club of America (“AACA”) Preservation Class candidate in the spring after you keep busy during the winter months detailing this Swinger in preparation for judging.
