Classifind Cut: 1977 Lincoln Mark V – SOLD!

Ford’s Lincoln Division launched its extensively updated fourth-generation Continental as the Mark V for 1977.  Not only was it Lincoln’s best-selling generation (228,262 examples produced in just three model years between 1977 and 1979), at 230 inches long, at 230 inches long it was the longest two-door car ever produced by Ford.

By 1977 increasing emissions regulations conspired with a desire for better fuel economy.  Consequently, Lincoln made the “smaller” 400 cubic inch V8 the standard V8 while the mighty 460 cubic inch mill became optional for all states except California. 1977 was the first year since 1960 that a Mark-series model came with an all-metal, body-color painted (non-vinyl covered) roof standard. The buyer’s choice of either full- or half-roof vinyl became optional.  Also new for 1977 were Turbine Style aluminum wheels combining a machined wheel lip and spoke edges with argent grey accent paint between the spokes, with bright, cup-style metal center caps.  These new optional wheels actually came standard on Designer Series models.

Despite the private seller not mentioning it, we wonder whether their dark blue metallic 1977 Lincoln Continental Mark V first listed in January 2021 on Craigslist in Baltimore, Maryland is one of the designer or special edition models. With just under 68K original miles,  the private seller currently has their Mark V listed for $12,500.  The Collector Car Market Review Online Tool confirms the ask is $400 less this guide’s current #1 “Excellent” appraisal of $12,900.
