1972 Pontiac GTO Tribute – Sold?
February 15, 2021 Update – We just confirmed the listing for this “Classifind” expired, so with no replacement found we’re assuming this ride “Sold?” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
January 11, 2021 Update – We came across a new listing for this Pontiac GTO tribute street machine we first featured last November. The private seller remains firm on their $17,000 asking price.
One of the potential downsides of building a street machine is that if you follow the then-current trends during your project your custom creation will look dated in ten to twenty years. That’s the vibe we get from this very yellow and heavily customized 1972 Pontiac GTO Clone originally listed in November 2020 on Craigslist in Greenwich, New York (Glenns Falls) for $17,000 where the current caretaker reports they are thinning their collection. While it’s hard to place a value on heavily customized street machines, a quick check of the Collector Car Market Review Online Tool for a stock example places the asking price between this guide’s current #4 “Fair” estimate of $11,975 and it’s #3 “Good” appraisal of $19,300. While the yellow paint scheme and custom billet aluminum wheels scream a 1990s era build, the private reports this GTO tribute features a brand new interior complimenting the exterior.
Here’s the seller’s description:
“Thinning the collect. Here’s a 1972 Pontiac Lemans GTO Clone Resto For Sale. Nice driver. 350, Auto, Dual exhaust, Sounds nice. Chromed out engine compartment, New custom interior, swivel seats, Enhanced power amp sound. No Rust. Head turner. $17,000 Upstate NY.”
