Classifind Cut: 1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible – Sold?
February 25, 2021 Update – while this “Classifind” expired recently, given the seller’s past history we suspect may not actually be sold yet. For now, we’re labeling this ride “Sold?” However, we will keep an eye out for updated listings. In the interim, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
January 21, 2021 Update – Just when we thought this all red Firebird sold before Christmas, we came across this fresh listing using the same pictures. However, the seller lowered their asking price by $500 to an even $25,000.
Despite having similar displacement, Pontiac’s late sixties 350 cubic inch V8 was not a rebadged Chevrolet small block. In 1968 Pontiac replaced its 326 cubic inch entry-level V8 with a larger variant created by using Pontiac’s 389 3 7⁄8 inch bores combined with a 3 3⁄4 inch stroke for a total displacement of 353.8 cubic inches. For reasons not clear to us, Pontiac chose to label the engine a “350” as this Red-over-red Morrowkide 1968 Pontiac Firebird convertible originally listed in December 2020 on Craigslist in Lawrence, New York (Long Island) with an asking price of $25,500. The Collector Car Market Review Online Tool confirms this ask falls between this guide’s current #2 “Very Good” estimate of $25,000 and its #1 “Excellent” appraisal of $37,800.
Here’s the seller’s description:
“This 1968 Pontiac Firebird convertible is in excellent condition comes with power steering power top 8 cylinder 350 motor the automatic transmission I have many receipts and pictures that come with the car, lots of work done to it call for more information 516-369-2327”
