Classifind Cut: 1978 Cadillac Coupe DeVille 35K Mile Survivor – SOLD!

Feb 2021 | Classifind Cut, Classifinds, Malaise Monday

February 6, 2021 Update – we confirmed the seller of this “Classifind” deleted their listing, so we’re now able to call this one “SOLD!” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.

1978 was a relatively quiet model year in Cadillac history, as the brand celebrated its 75th anniversary with the launch of its redesigned and downsized Deville and Fleetwood lines.  In addition to a redesigned grille and hood ornament, 1978 saw slim, vertical tail lamps inset into chrome bumper end caps with built-in side marker lamps, a featured Cadillac retained on DeVilles through 1984, and then again from 1989 through 1999. While the special edition Phaeton trim package was the big news for 1978, we find there is no short supply of low mileage regular-trim examples such as this 35K mile survivor here on Craigslist originally listed in February 2021 on Craigslist in Melville, New York with and an asking price of $12,795.   Comparing this price against the Collector Car Market Review confirms this private seller has Coupe DeVille priced above this guide’s #1 “Excellent” appraisal of $11,500, so we hope they have left the room to allow some negotiation.

We love the interesting color combination and the preservation-class quality of this DeVille.  In addition to making a fine judging candidate for the Antique Automobile Club of America’s Preservation Class, this would also make a classic and comfortable ride for the club’s touring events we hope will start again this year.  Good luck with the purchase!

Here’s the seller’s description:

“Original 35000 miles. Hard to find Moonroof, sentinel lights, delay wipers tilt and telescopic wheel, leather interior, like new, runs great. excellent chrome and rubbers”
