Classifind Cut: 1979 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Street Machine – SOLD!
February 20, 2021 Update – we confirmed the seller of this “Classifind” deleted their listing, so we’re now able to call this one “SOLD!” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
Perhaps it’s because they were new when I was in high school, but I always loved the look of the ’79 Camaro Z/28 as the combination of the added-on spoilers combined with subtle side-stripe looked much more subdued than most other “tape-stripe” performance packages of the day. Alas, Z/28s of this vintage were not much a performance car in stock form. The seller of this 1979 Camaro Z/28 street machine originally listed in February 2021 on Craigslist in Voluntown, Connecticut appears to have addressed all of my concerns with their fuel-injected and T-topped street machine. The modernized gauges, cue ball shifter controlling a five-speed manual combine with the American Racing wheels make a nice modern interpretation of what I wanted to drive in high school. Offered at $20,000 the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms the private seller has their Z/28 priced between this guide’s #3 “Good” estimate of $14,800 and its #2 “Excellent” appraisal of $24,600. Interestingly, the Collector Car Market Review Online Tool provides a similar assessment as the asking price falls between this guide’s #2 “Very Good” estimate of $14,800 and its #1 “Excellent” appraisal of $22,200.
Here’s the seller’s description:
“1979 Chevy Camaro Z28. T-tops, A/C, power locks/ windows, five-speed manual transmission, fuel injection, Call for more info, to much to list, serious buyers only.”
