Classifind Cut: 1980 Alfa Romeo Spider – $9,500
February 3, 2021 Update – We just came across a new listing for this Alfa Romeo we first featured in January. The price, pictures, and description were all carried over from the original post, however, this time the seller provides a phone number in lieu of the standard email reply link.
Four model years after launching its original Series 1 Spider Veloce, Alfa Romeo launched the Series II in 1970 by revising the original car’s distinctive elongated round tail with a more conventional-for-the-period Kamm tail to improve luggage space. Numerous other small changes took place both inside and out, such as a slightly different grille, new door handles, a more raked windscreen, top-hinged pedals, and improved interior trim. Series II cars also came with a larger 1,962 cc, inline four-cylinder engine, so Alfa Romeo called these editions the 2000 Spider Veloce. Alfa Spiders remained relatively unchanged, save for interior and color choices, through the 1982 model year. An all-black 1980 example is currently listed here on Craigslist in Upper Montclair, New Jersey with an asking price of $9,500. Comparing that price against the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms the private seller has their Alfa priced $300 less than this guide’s #4 “Fair” (Daily Driver) estimate of $9,800. Interestingly, the Collector Car Market Review Online Tool provides a different assessment as in this case the asking price falls between this guide’s #3 “Good” estimate of $6,650 and its #2 ‘Very Good” appraisal of $10,075. If you are serious about buying this classic Alfa, you can start the conversation by calling Bob at (201) 838-3662 When you connect, please remember to mention you saw their Spider featured here on GuysWithRides.com. Good luck with the purchase!
