Rustfree Radness: 1997 Nissan Hardbody 4×4 – SOLD!

Feb 2021 | Classifinds, Truckin Tuesday

February 23, 2021 Update – we confirmed the seller of this “Classifind” deleted their listing, so we’re now able to call this one “SOLD!” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.

While Nissan used the name “Navarro” for its D21 compact pickup in most countries outside the U.S., here in the states, the company branded the truck “Hardbody” as a reference to the truck’s double-wall bed and overall styling. Nissan produced the hardbody for the US market from November 1985 until 1997. Designed at Nissan’s San Diego studio, the American Hardbody featured a different hood, and wider flared front guards versus versions available elsewhere. This 1997 single cab 4×4 we found in February 2021 on Craigslist in Hillsdale, New York (Albany) is reported to be sourced from the west coast and as such features a rust-free body.  The private seller has their Hardbody listed for $7,999 currently.  Unfortunately, at the time we were writing this, none of our normal pricing sources could provide valuations for this vintage of the truck.

We love how this is a simple, no-frills compact 4×4 pickup whose condition belies the 130,000 miles traveled.

Here’s the seller’s description:

“I have a Rust Free 1997 Nissan Hardbody 4X4 pickup from the West Coast. It has a 4 cyl. with a 5 spd. manual trans.4 wheel drive with manual locking hubs.Lots of maintenance records. It runs and drives great.$7,999.

Work or play: what would you do with this rust-free Hardbody?  Comment below and let us know!
