1993 Chevrolet Corvette 40th Anniversary 6-Speed Convertible – Sold?
March 19, 2021 Update – We just confirmed the listing for this C4 Corvette “Classifind” expired, so with no replacement found we’re assuming this ride “Sold?” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
After producing the very rad, all-white-all-the-time, 35th anniversary Corvette for 1988, Chevrolet developed a more timeless and subdued Ruby Red-colored 40th Anniversary Corvette for the 1993 model year. This 42K original mile example currently originally listed in February 2021 on Craigslist in Hibernia, New Jersey caught our eye as the ruby color exterior carries through to the leather interior as well. The current caretaker is looking to get $18,999 for their C4. Comparing that price against the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms the private seller has their Corvette priced between this guide’s #3 “Good” estimate of $10,200 and its #2 “Excellent” appraisal of $20,900.
Despite the seller’s assertion he owns a rare Corvette, the reality is that nearly one-third of the 21,590 1993 Corvette buyers opted for the good-looking anniversary package. In fact, the Ruby Red package exclusive to the package ended up being the most common Corvette color that year. Of the 6,749 40th anniversary edition Corvettes produced, 2,171 were convertibles, so about the only thing remotely approaching rare for this Corvette might be the fact it’s a six-speed manual convertible.
Hagerty Insurance provides this nice C4 Buyer’s Guide video on their YouTube Channel:
While we love the color combination and low mileage condition, originality is everything with these cars, so we are hopeful the seller can supply the factory “sawtooth” wheels in addition to the later model chrome rims currently found on the car.
Here’s the seller’s description:
“Stunning 1993 40th Anniversary Corvette Roadster, 6 speed. very low 42k miles, newer upgraded Vette Polished Aluminum Wheels, otherwise all original including paint, (minus front bumper). The factory Ruby Red finish has undergone a costly and time-consuming wet sanding and buffing and looks absolutely fantastic, even better in person than it looks in these photos.
This car has always been garaged and pampered, and it shows from the Concours quality Paint and Ruby Red Leather Sport Seats Interior, down to its clean engine compartment and undercarriage. She needs absolutely nothing, is a joy to own, and is as new as you’ll get for the bargain price of $19,000.00 firm! Have you ever driven a good C-4 Vette? They are not to be scorned, very fast and fantastic on gas mileage. These C-4 Convertibles are very scarce only 2,288 40th Triple Ruby Convertibles were ever built and now going up in value and most are trading in the high teens and low twenties. Don’t miss out Spring is just around the corner. Clean NY title in hand.“

So is it sold or not…I’m interested in this year and convertible.. please advise
Hi Jim, thank you for reaching out. However, to clarify, this was an example we featured just over one year ago in March 2021. With respect to Craiglist ads, many sellers simply let their ads expire rather than delete them once a car sells, so in those cases, we mark expired listings as “Sold?” unless we come across a fresh listing for said car. We’ve made a note that you’re looking for a ’93 Anniversary model (my personal favorite special edition color combination) and we’ll let you know if we find one soon.
