When Plymouth launched the third-generation Barracuda in 1970, the new car was no longer based on the company’s entry-level valiant. The 1970 Barracuda now relied on a shorter yet wider version of Chrysler’s B-Body that became known as the E-Body.  Plymouth offered three versions in hardtop coupe and convertible forms: the base Barracuda (BH), the luxury-oriented Gran Coupe (BP), and the sport model ‘Cuda (BS).

Plymouth marketed high-performance models as ‘Cudas. The E-body’s engine bay was larger than that of the previous A-body, facilitating the ability to offer Chrysler’s 425 horsepower, 426 cubic inch Hemi V8 to retail consumers.  Both 440- and Hemi-equipped cars received upgraded suspension components and structural reinforcements to help transfer the power to the pavement.

If you’re looking for a trailer- or garage queen 1970 Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda Coupe you can admire as part of your collection, then this is not the car for you. If however, you want a nicely restored and lightly modified ’70 Hemi ‘Cuda you can actually drive and enjoy the raw sounds and smells of, then this might be the muscle car for you.

Jim, the current caretaker of this 1970 Hemi ‘Cuda Coupe, is in the process of providing a detailed description of this car’s features and history.  We will upload it here as soon as it becomes available.
