Six Months Gone: 1978 Ford LTD II 40K Mile Survivor – SOLD!
May 9, 2021 Update – while the original owner of this 1978 Ford LTD “Classifind” just deleted their listing, given the seller’s past history we suspect may not actually be sold yet. For now, we’re labeling this ride “Sold?” However, we will keep an eye out for an updated listing. In the interim, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
April 23, 2021 Update – In what is almost a right of passage in Western New York, if you can’t sell your classic car before the snow flies in the fall, you store it until the spring and try again once the snow melts. That’s exactly what the original owner of this 1978 Ford LTD II relisted in April 2021 on Craigslist in Orchard Park, New York with only 41K original miles is trying to do now. This time around, however, he’s lowered his asking price from the original $13,950 to $12,900.
December 30, 2020 Update – we confirmed the seller of this “Classifind” deleted their listing, so we’re now able to call this one “SOLD!”
In what some consider the height of brand engineering, for 1977 Ford merged its Torino and Gran Torino lines into the intermediate LTD II that lasted only three model years. The 41K original mile 1978 example originally listed in October 2020 on Craigslist in Orchard Park, New York, by the original owner clearly shows how well preserved a car can remain in Buffalo, New York if you keep it off the salt covered roads of Western New York from about mid-October through mid-April.
Here’s the seller’s description:
“1978 Ford LTD II in excellent shape. The original owner bought off the showroom floor. Undercoated when new, solid body, never saw a winter, 41,000 original miles, 302, many new parts, original paint, stored inside, covered. No trades. Do not need help selling, interested local parties only.”

New York car the ll. Paint code russet metallic #81 was strong $$. For non air condition especially if purchase down to south. I have one same mikes with sport dash cluster with steering wheel. It look just as a basic car nothing to evaluate price. Even with miles also with a 302
I also had the 78 ford Ltd ll russet metallic #81. But I had a/c with chrome rocker panels & chrome trim around wheels. Also cruise control. It’s fair $$ for our market with the miles.
Please notify me if you get a 1978 LTD 2 with the sports package. Thank you
