5-Speed: 1993 Jaguar Series III XJS 4.0 Convertible – Bidding Open!

GuysWithRides.com is excited to offer this 70K original mile, 1993 Jaguar XJS Convertible featuring a very rare five-speed manual transmission. Bidding opens Thursday, May 13, 2021, at Noon Eastern Time and continues for 14 days through Thursday, May 27 at 7:00 pm. This Jaguar XJS is currently less than one hour from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

The Jaguar XJS is perhaps one of the more recognized shapes from the company’s lineup, outshone only by the stunning E-Type. In cabriolet form, it took a few variations to make the droptop a standard fixture in showrooms, as Hess & Eisenhardt made the first batch under contract with Jaguar, which took the work back in-house in 1988. There was even a wild Targa model known as the XJ-SC, a difficult model to find these days, but still likely not as rare as a convertible featuring the optional five-speed manual gearbox. Offered with both inline-six and V12 engines, the XJS lineup would get a final cosmetic refresh in the early 90s before its retirement from the U.S. lineup. While the model may be gone, it is hardly forgotten, and it’s one of the few 1980s cars that still look as glamorous today as it did when it was showroom new.

The current caretaker of this Oyster Metallic over cream leather XJS purchased the car from a convertible collector approximately seven years ago. In addition to regular maintenance, Bob recently replaced the brown cloth convertible top.

The completed Lemon Squad Pre-Purchase Inspection (“PPI”) can be reviewed by clicking on the image below. While the inspector noted what appears to be power steering and valve cover leaks, Bob was quick to point out that these are very minor as he does not see nor does he allow fluids to leak on the floor of his collector car garage.
