1969 Datsun 1600 Roadster – SOLD!
May 16, 2021 Update – we confirmed the seller of this “Classifind” deleted their listing, so we’re now able to call this one “SOLD!” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
The SPL311 was the final smaller-engine iteration of Datsun’s MGB-like Fairlady, better known as the 1600 Roadster in export markets. The hood badge said “Datsun” in individual letters, the rear badge said “Datsun 1600”, and the side badges said either “Fairlady” in Datsun’s home market or “Datsun 1600” abroad. It appears the private seller of this 1969 white example originally listed in May 2021 on Craigslist in Baltimore, Maryland for $8,500 elected to change out the side badges. The Collector Car Market Review indicates the current asking price is $1oo above this guide’s #3 “Good” estimate of $8,400.
Here’s the seller’s one-sentence description:
“Beautiful 1968 Datsun Roadster for sale. Solid driver condition car with tons of extras…super fun as is or build a really unique and awesome resto-mod.
Carburetors could use a tune, but it did drive nicely all around before sitting since last fall. Turns over easily but probably needs some spark plugs. Brakes and steering are all good and the car was fantastic to drive. KYB shocks with a set of “competition” springs and Volvo front brake conversion.
The interior needs a little work. I have a lot of interior parts ready to install, including new carpeting (never installed), new interior door panels, rubber and felt window guides, ebrake boot, door pulls, and a set of Schroth 4 point harnesses. Very pretty Momo Indy wooden steering wheel installed on the car.
Paint is a solid 10 footer. Body and frame look good. The underside is clean and has been coated. Some rust repair has been done and there are no major issues. Fuel tank was removed for inspection and looks great. Great condition rear chrome bumper ready to put on to replace painted bumper.
Brand new, never installed Smoothline removable hard top will go with the car. This was +$1500 delivered and a fantastic piece to have.
Also brand new and never installed are a set of 15×7 Enkei Compe wheels with Dunlop Direzza DZ102 tires. Beautiful wheels.
Also including a rare 1967.5 flat dash in great shape other than needing paint. Includes silver trim piece and glove box that opens and closes nicely and upper frame piece.
A few other bonus parts included (no junk). Swap it with a modern motor, or just tune the carbs and have fun. Please email for more pictures or if you have any other questions.“
