Gianna: 1989 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce – Sold?

by | May 2021 | Classifinds, Sports Car Saturday

June 25, 2021 Update – We just confirmed the listing for this ’89 Alfa Romeo “Classifind” expired, so with no replacement found we’re assuming this ride “Sold?” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call Rudy directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.

May 22, 2021 Update – The seller just reduced their asking price from $12,500 to $11,250.

We know what you’re thinking: another all-black Alfa Romeo Sider Veloce featured for Sports Car Saturday? No, this one’s different…it’s Gianna and her current caretaker Lorenzo originally had her listed in April 2021 on Craigslist in Holmdel, New Jersey for $11,250, which is down from the original ask of $12,500. Comparing that price against the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms the private seller has their Alfa priced four hundred dollars less than this guide’s #3 “Good” appraisal of $12,900.

Alfa Romeo produced the two-seat, front-engine, rear-drive Spider sports car for nearly thirty years from 1966 to 1994 in four distinct series. The Spider featured here is a final-year Series 3 example produced from 1983 through 1989.

Power for all North American Spiders came from a 2.0 liter double overhead cam inline-four featuring Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection that produced 126 brake horsepower at 5,400 RPM and 131 foot-pounds of torque at 4,000 RPM. Power from this engine transferred to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission with a distinctive shifter that appears to protrude from the middle of the dashboard.

The example presented here is the top-of-the-line Veloce model. Unlike the entry-level, no-frills “Graduate” model, the Veloce came equipped with a number of power and convenience options in addition to the attractive five-spoke alloy wheels, leather seats, and cloth convertible top.

We were going to pass on featuring this Alfa as we’ve had a run of black spiders as of late, however, Lorenzo’s great description of his Gianna had to be featured.

Here’s is Lorenzo’s description of Gianna:

“Let me introduce you to an absolutely gorgeous Italian Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce. Her name is Gianna. She is only 31 yrs old (1989&113000 mi) with a beautiful mirror finish paint job, along with very nice powder coated wheels. She has black leather interior, a custom mahogany steering wheel and shift knob, 5 speed, Bosch fuel-injected 2.0 engine, power windows, mirrors and A/C. Garage kept she only comes out on sunny days. Rest assured Gianna treated well will continue to appreciate in value. She runs like a Champ, is a Blast to drive and is ready for Summer Fun, Fun, Fun !!!! $12,500 Negotiable
