1986 Lincoln Town Car Cartier Edition – SOLD FOR $10,500!

May 25, 2021 Update – We’re pleased to report that shortly after this auction ended, the high bidder and seller struck a deal for $10,5001 Congrats to all!

GuysWithRides.com is excited to offer this 21K original mile, 1986 Lincoln Town Car Cartier Edition for our latest reserve auction lot. Bidding opens Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 9:00 am Eastern Time and continues for 14 days through Tuesday, May 25 at 7:00 pm. This Lincoln Towncar is currently located only minutes from Philadelphia International Airport.

This 1986 Lincoln Town Car is a Cartier Designer Series model finished in Crystal Metallic over a combination of Cartier-patterned cloth and Oxford Gray leather. Power is supplied by a 5.0L V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. A very interesting option on this example is the aluminum wire wheels; they are not wheel covers but rather a one-piece design.

The original purchaser of this Lincoln accumulated nearly all of the 20,468 miles currently showing on the odometer during the first three years of ownership. After the original owner passed away in 1989, his widow continued owning the car until just last year when she sold it to the current caretaker Joe. As much as Joe enjoys having this Town Car, he freely admits he is a self-proclaimed “Chevy Guy” through and through, so he would like to see this Lincoln move to someone who will enjoy it thoroughly. The only thing Joe needed to replace during his ownership to date was the battery.

We personally photographed and inspected this low-mileage survivor. As you will see in the pictures, the only blemishes we came across are one paint chip near the driver’s door lock and the foam padding on the top of the glove box door is starting to separate from inside the door, both of which appears to be relatively easy repairs. Reported to be always garaged throughout its life, the undercarriage shots show the exhaust system still carries their factory labels.

The only modification made to the car is a pair of under-bumper-mounted driving lights. The original owner added those to aid in his ability to see while driving at night. Otherwise, this well-optioned Cartier Edition Town Car remains all stock. Unfortunately, the original window sticker and other receipts were not kept with the car.

While every option and light worked during our filing of the car, we note that the air conditioning system appears to need a charge from lack of use.  Most importantly, the A/C system came from the factory filled with R134a refrigerant, so no conversion is needed for refilling.

If you are looking for a car to complete in the Antique Automobile Club of America Touring and Preservation Class Judging events, this Lincoln is a weekend’s detailing away from potentially earning you and the car an AACA “Junior” grill badge.
