1965 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider Roadster – Sold?

Jun 2021 | Classifinds, Sports Car Saturday

July 4, 2021 Update – We just confirmed the listing for this “Classifind” expired, so with no replacement found we’re assuming this ride “Sold?” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call us directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.

If you’re wondering how on earth an Alfa Romeo could possibly have a six-figure asking price, the company’s 260 Sports Roadster is now considered a historically significant automobile in the Italian company’s history. Why? Not only was it the company’s flagship car from 1962 through 1968, the 2600 is also known as the last Alfa fitted with an inline six-cylinder engine with twin overhead camshafts. While that engine configuration was the company’s modus operandi dating back to the 1920s, subsequent Alfas utilized either inline-four or V6 mills ever since.

It’s not very often we come across a vintage 2600 Spider as this finely restored example originally listed in May 2021 on Craigslist in Myerstown, Pennsylvania. Featuring two tops and only 42K original miles, the current caretaker is offering their Alfa for $105,000. To put that price in perspective,  the Collector Car Market Review Online Tool indicates the private seller has their vintage Alfa priced three thousand less than this guide’s #3 “Good” estimate of $108,000,  as a second data point, the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool reveals this private seller has this Alfa priced between the #3 “Good” estimate of $84,300 and the #2 “Excellent” appraisal of $165,000.

Here’s the seller’s description:

“1965 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider Roadster. Red with black convertible top (also has hardtop), black interior.
42,000 miles. Matching numbers. Garage kept. The car looks like new- beautiful! (Due to health reasons was not able to finish minor details).
Respectfully request only serious inquiries.”
