June 17, 2021 Update – While the auction of this ’89 Toyota Supra ended two days earlier with the reserve not met, that didn’t mean the action stopped then! Earlier today, the seller agreed to a counteroffer of $5,500 versus the reserve price of $6,000, so we can officially call this Supra “SOLD!”
June 15, 2021 Update – The auction ended with a high bid of $4,500, which was below the reserve price of $6,000.
GuysWithRides.com is excited to offer this tastefully modified 1989 Toyota Supra MkIII Base for our latest reserve auction lot. Bidding opens Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Noon Eastern Time and continues for 14 days through Tuesday, June 15 at 7:00 pm. This Supra is currently located in central New Jersey approximately one hour’s drive from either Newark or Philadelphia International airports.
Dan, the current caretaker and avid Supra enthusiast, became the second owner of this car approximately eleven years ago. Over the course of that time, Dan completed several tasteful modifications. Most notable are the bronze-colored five-spoke aftermarket wheels that really set off the factory burgundy paint. Underhood is a polished cross brace designed to stiffen the car’s chassis. Scavenging the engine’s gasses is a nice-sounding aftermarket exhaust. Finally, a JVC stereo replaced the factory head unit long ago.

Do you have any pics of the undercarriage, especially while vehicle is on a lift?
Thanks
Ask and ye shall receive! Thank you for the reminder: we just uploaded an additional sixty detailed pictures of this Supra showing the lower door panels, rocker mouldings and undercarriage as best as possible. While the undercarriage pictures were not taken with the car on a lift, what we do provide clearly shows how genuinely rust free this ’89 Supra is.
What is the reserve on this car?
As with any reserve auction, the “Reserve Price” is not disclosed until a bidder places a bid that is greater than or equal to the reserve price. That said, we’re pleased to report the reserve price on this Supra is under ten thousand, and placing a bid with four digits to the left of the decimal point that starts with a six will put you in contention to become the next owner.
How long after this auction ends will it be before I get my 225 deposit back
Great question, thank you for asking. As explained in our Terms of Service and Buyer’s Agreement (which we encourage every prospective bidder to read and understand thoroughly before placing a bid), we place a $225 hold on a bidder’s credit card prior to them placing a bid. This is standard practice in the industry and is not a charge, but merely a hold the reduced your available credit on the card provided. The hold will be released after either 1.) seven days or 2.) The end of the auction, whichever occurs first.
What is the mileage?
Picture 56 in the carousel at the top indicates just under 103,000 original miles which is consistent with the mileage indicated in the CarFax.
What happens if the auction doesn’t meet reserve? Will it repost or go to a private sale or be taken off matket
Domenic, great question. If this Supra does not meet its reserve, the first step we will do is work with the high bidder to see if they are willing to pay the reserve price to buy the car. Unlike some other online collector car sites, If the top bidder refuses, the car will move to our “Rides Still Available” page where we will take and present offers to the seller. Our 2.5% fee ($225 minimum, $1,000 maximum) still applies.
The seller agreed to a very reasonable reserve that is not far away from the current high bid, so let’s get this one sold at auction!
