1958 Chevrolet Nomad – SOLD FOR $33,000!
June 18, 2021 Update – We’re pleased to report the buyer and seller came to an agreement on this Nomad for $33,000! We can officially call this Nomad, “SOLD!
June 16, 2021 Update – Unfortunately, the high bid of $30,000 was not enough to meet the reserve of $39,500. We are currently working with the high bidder and the seller to confirm whether a deal can be met.
GuysWithRides.com is excited to offer this subtly customized 1958 Chevrolet Nomad for our latest reserve auction lot. Bidding opens Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Noon Eastern Time and continues for 14 days through Wednesday, June 16 at 7:00 pm. This Nomad is currently located in central New Jersey about one hour away from Philadelphia International Airport.
The current caretaker, an avid car collector and fan of green-painted rides, placed the winning bid on Lot T95 at the 2018 Mecum Monterey Auction (remember, the price Mecum shows is artificially inflated by their ten percent buyer’s premium and other fees – a practice Guys With Rides does not endorse).
Prior to his purchase, the prior owner completed a frame-off restoration of this car. A full book documenting the restoration is included with the sale. For 1958, the Nomad became the top-trim equivalent to Impalas for four-door station wagon models.
During his ownership, this Nomad has been thoroughly sorted and runs very well. The most notable change was swapping out the dated aluminum slotted wheels with a nice-looking set of Chevy slotted wheels mounted with a fresh set of redline tires.
The highly optioned Nomad came factory-equipped with power windows. Modern power and heated seats were added in addition to a Vintage Air conditioning system and a vintage-look radio.

What is the reserve price?
Hi Steve, the reserve price in an auction is never revealed to bidders. In ours, however, once a bid equal to or greater than a reserve price is met, the message below the current bid window will change from “Reserve price not met!” to “Reserve met!”
Where is car located
Hi Larry, as stated above this Nomad is currently located in central New Jersey about one hour away from Philadelphia International Airport.
I would like some information about the engine, transmission, and rear differential that is in this 58 Nomad. How does it run and drive? Is the car reliable from moderate road trips? I would like to know this before submitting a bid. Thank you
As part of the documented frame-off restoration completed in 2014, the Nomad’s powertrain is a rebuilt 348 cubic inch V8 connected to a smooth-shifting Powerglide that sends torque back to a highway geared 3:03 rear end.
In addition to a Vintage Air A/C system, the Nomad features a six-way power seat, a Satellite radio, and a security system. The current caretaker says it’s a well-sorted highway cruiser that he would have no problem getting into right now to take on a road trip.
Hello I see the high bid of $30,000 did not meet the reserve, is there a price the seller is willing to give to close a sale on this beautiful car?
Thanks
Troy
Hi Troy, the seller’s reserve price is $39,500. If you’d like to submit an offer close to that, please click the blue button below and enter it into the bid amount box.
