Guys With Rides is pleased to auction this customized 1940 Chevrolet Master 1/2 Ton pickup truck as one of our latest reserve auction offerings. Guys With Rides’ very own Lou Seiden has run out of room at his Garage Mahal, so he has decided to auction this Chevrolet as well as his 1948 Dodge pickup truck. Bidding starts at Noon Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, and runs for fourteen consecutive days ending at 7:00 PM Eastern Standard time on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.
From its custom wood bed holding a beer keg gas tank, all supported by a Dualie Wheel 12 Bolt rear end, you quickly realize this is no ordinary 1940 Chevrolet Master 1/2 Ton Pickup truck. Power comes from a 1942 vintage Chevrolet inline-six, itself a rare commodity as GM quickly converted to War Time production that model year. Hiding under a stock-looking bench seat is a modern stereo. The dashboard has been updated with billet aluminum knobs and modern gauges to keep things in check.
Overall, the body features a driver-quality paint job that shines and presents well. The only trouble spot that we point out in the video and pictures is the driver’s side inner rocker panel. A steel replacement is included with the sale. The body sits on a nicely detailed frame featuring a 12-Bolt GM axle converted to run “Dualie” rims. The previous owner designed and built the custom varnished wood truck bed.
In addition to the truck, the sale includes a number of spare parts. The most notable items include a replacement gas tank (should you prefer to have a larger capacity that you do not have to check manually), an aluminum radiator, and a replacement steel interior header meant to replace the slightly rusty original unit.
