1966 Chevrolet Chevelle – SOLD For $32,000!

June 19, 2021 Update – The seller of this ’66 Chevelle street machine informed us his car sold for $32,000 after seeing it on one of our Craigslist ads posted in the Chicago area.

June 8, 2021 Update – After only receiving a lone high bid of $500 when the original event ended June 1st, at the owner’s request, we’re re-running the auction of this ’66 Chevelle Street Machine as more potential bidders learn about GuysWithRides Auctions. This latest auction will run for one week from Tuesday, June 8 at 3:00 pm through Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at 6:45 pm Eastern Standard Time. Happy bidding!  This custom Chevelle street machine is currently located in southern Illinois.

What originally left the Chevrolet factory in 1966 as a six-cylinder-powered Chevelle 300 has been transformed into the 5.3L Vortec-powered fair-weather cruiser you see featured here. The exterior is now painted a stunning House of Kolor True Blue pearl that the current owner and builder reports is absolutely stunning to see in sunlight. Setting off the great paint is a set of chrome 18″ Sport Muscle rims shod with 255/40R18 Sumitomo tires.

The aforementioned 5.3L Vortec exhales through a set of Headman headers connected to a stainless steel exhaust equipped with Flowmaster Series 40 mufflers.  This modern V8 sends its power to a Lokar floor-shifted 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission that twists a stout 12-bolt rear end equipped with 3.42:1 gears. For modern reliability, the powertrain relies on a Painless Wiring harness to control everything. An IDidIt® power steering column handles the turning duties while a set of modern front disc brakes.  In addition to new body mounts, modern Hotchkiss suspension components keep the tires well-planted.

Helping the driver keep an eye on everything are color-keyed Autometer Cobalt Gauges.  A custom smoothed firewall eliminated the factory (the current owner and builder only drives this Chevelle on rain-free days) HVAC system, however, the seller notes the car is set up for someone to add an aftermarket air conditioning system. Keeping the driver and your front-seat passenger comfortable during cruises are race-style bucket seats while a Custom Autosound stereo system keeps the tunes flowing.

The picture below provides the link to the complimentary LemonSquad.com Pre-Purchase Inspection (“PPI”) completed in May 2021 for this auction. The seller indicates the inoperable windshield wipers noted in the report below are caused by a faulty motor that will need to be replaced. Otherwise, the mechanic who conducted the PPI confirmed this Chevelle has no major red flags.
