Fun-size Fire Fighter: 1979 GMC 3500 4×4 – Sold?

by | Jun 2021 | Truckin Tuesday

August 2, 2021 Update – We just confirmed the listing for this Fire Truck “Classifind” expired, so with no replacement found we’re assuming this ride “Sold?” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call us directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.

While many of our readers liked this 1992 Pierce Fire Truck we featured in May 2021, some complained it was simply too big for their needs. For those Naysayers, we just came across a much more practical firefighter: this 1979 GMC 3500 4×4 originally listed in June 2021 on Craigslist in Windsor, Vermont appears to be a capable example featuring a 454 cubic inch V8 with only 7,000 miles offered at $12,000 currently. Comparing that price against the Collector Car Market Review Online Tool for a stock truck confirms the asking price is within reason.

Firetruck provenance aside, the fact this big-block-powered 4×4 GMC has only 7,000 original miles means this truck was used sparingly through its duty cycle.  And like most Fire trucks, this example likely was pampered by always being garaged when not in use, regularly cleaned, and preventative maintenance performed between calls. With all of the storage (we’re assuming originally used for hoses) in the service box, someone could convert this to a nice service truck with a bit of imagination.

Here’s the seller’s brief description:

“1979 3500 4×4 454 engine 4speed only 7000 miles excellent condition no rust runs good looks good calls only No texts or email thanks
