Bring a Tow Truck: 1964 AMC Rambler Classic 660 Cross Country – SOLD!

by | Jun 2021 | Classifinds, Wagon Wednesday

July 6, 2021 Update – At only $1,200 or best offer for what looked like a very solid and complete project car, we’re not surprised to confirm the seller deleted their Craigslist ad less than one week after posting it. We’re now able to call this one “SOLD!” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call us directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.

American Motors Corporation (“AMC”) offered its intermediate-sized Rambler Classic starting in 1961 and carried it through two distinct generations through 1966. Station wagon versions carried the “Cross Country” brand name.  If you’re in the market for a 1960s vintage AMC Rambler 660 Cross Country station wagon project, you might want to Bring a Tow Truck to buy what appears to be a very restorable non-running this 1964 example originally listed in July 2021 on Craigslist in Uniondale, New York (Long Island) for $1,200 or best offer. The Collector Car Market Review Online Tool confirms the negotiable asking price of $1,200 is well below this guide’s #4 “Fair” (Daily Driver) estimate of $3,850.

With no picture of the engine, we can only go by the ad’s description metrics indicating this Rambler features a six-cylinder engine backed by an automatic transmission.

Here’s the seller’s description:

“For sale is a 1964 AMC Rambler Cross Country 660 with one previous owner. This classic car is ready to be restored to its original glory by the right owner. They don’t make them like this anymore! Price is negotiable, purchaser is responsible for towing/flat-bedding vehicle after the sale. Any questions please feel free to ask.
