August 4, 2021 Update – We just confirmed the listing for this “Classifind” expired, so with no replacement found we’re assuming this ride “Sold?” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call us directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
June 30, 2021 Update – We just came across a fresh listing for this Corvair project we first featured last month. The pictures, description, and price all remain the same.
Searching through Craigslist “Classifinds” every day, we run across a number of stalled projects for a variety of reasons. One of the more common unfortunately is learning about a restoration project starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel only to have their funding well dry up before their money pit is show ready again. That’s the situation the seller of this 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa convertible originally listed in June 2021 on Craigslist in Croydon, Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) finds himself in as the critical (and expensive) bodywork, pain, and mechanical rebuilds are now complete. Consequently, this is a great project car the next caretaker can take across the finish line by completing all of the interior work and convertible top replacement.
Offered at $20,000 currently, comparing that price against the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms the son has their father’s Corvair priced between this guide’s #3 “Good” estimate of $15,000 and its #2 “Excellent” appraisal of $23,900. Similarly, the Collector Car Market Review Online Tool reveals the asking price is nine hundred dollars more than this guide’s current #1 “Excellent” appraisal of $19,100. While some may scoff at the price for what is still an uncompleted project car, given that Corvair prices, especially those for a matching numbers, 140 horsepower, 4-speed equipped Corsa convertible, are on the rise, the next caretaker is getting a relative time and money bargain.
Here’s the seller’s description:
“A numbers matching Chevy Corvair Corsa 4 carb, 140 hp, 4 speed convertible for sale. This vehicle has gone through an extensive 3 year ,ground up restoration.
