Brown Beauty: 1975 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible – Sold?

Jul 2021 | Craigslist ClassiFINDS, Topless Thursday

July 4, 2021 Update – After a two-week absence following the expiration of the original listing, the seller just posted a new Craigslist ad in which the pictures, description, and price of $16,500 remain essentially identical.

June 16, 2021 Update – We just confirmed the listing for this Cadillac Eldorado “Classifind” expired, so with no replacement found we’re assuming this ride “Sold?” unless we come across a new listing.

With a five hundred cubic inch (eight liters!) The ninth-generation Cadillac Eldorado represents the pinnacle of American Land Yacht design with a V8 engine, a flat floor thanks to its front-wheel-drive powertrain, and a 19-foot-long body. While it wasn’t the “Last American Convertible,” it is the last ragtop with genuinely comfortable seating for six. For 1975, the Eldorado was given rectangular headlamps, a new egg-crate grille, full rear wheel openings without fender skirts, and sharper, crisper lines resulting in a sleeker appearance reminiscent of the 1967–70 models.

This all-brown example, initially listed in May 2021 on Craigslist in Garfield, New Jersey, caught our eye as its 63,500 original miles hint this has been a well-cared-for example originally sourced at some point from Texas. That said, we sense a repaint has been performed, but no harm, no foul if that is the case and it’s in the original factory hue. We hope the aftermarket dash cover is there to protect rather than hide something. This Eldorado also comes equipped with the desirable fiberglass parade boot. Offered at $16,500, comparing that price against the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms the private seller has their Eldorado priced three hundred dollars less than this guide’s #3 “Good” estimate of $16,800. As a second data point, the  Collector Car Market Review Online Tool reveals the seller’s current ask falls between this guide’s #2 “Very Good” estimate of $15,500 and its #1 “Excellent” appraisal of $29,950.

The Hagerty Insurance YouTube Channel offers this unique “Point-of-View” video of what it’s like to ride in a 1975 Eldorado convertible:
