July 26, 2021 Update – we confirmed the seller of this “Classifind” deleted their listing, so we’re now able to call this one “SOLD!” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call us directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.

With the continued rising popularity of restoring vintage pickup trucks, once restored it’s often hard to visualize just how hard many examples might have been used when new.  A prime example is this red 1972 Chevrolet K20 4×4 stepside originally listed in July 2021 on Craigslist in Springdale, Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh) offered at $12,00 currently. Comparing that price against the Collector Car Market Review Online Tool confirms the private seller has their K20 priced between this guide’s #3 “Good” estimate of $10,250 and its #2 “Very Good” appraisal of $15,700.

Typically, Chevrolet K20 (3/4 Ton) “Action Line” pickups built between 1967 and 1972 that came equipped with long-wheelbase stepside were going to be the new owner’s workhorse. Combine that with this truck’s original School Bus Yellow paint, a three-on-the-tree-controlled 307 cubic inch small block Chevy, and four-wheel drive, and we’re betting this K20 originally saw duty for either a school system or more likely, a state highway department.  Please comment below if you find out the history of this truck and can confirm our hypothesis.

Provenance aside, this truck’s current state is a mix of restored and custom features.  While the red exterior repaint is very presentable, we would quickly get to work cleaning the engine compartment and replacing the seat cover with a restoration quality reupholstery kit.

Here’s the seller’s description:
