Old School: 1972 Chevrolet Vega GT Kammback – Sold?
August 3, 2021 Update – We just confirmed the listing for this “Classifind” expired, so with no replacement found we’re assuming this ride “Sold?” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call us directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
The loose definition of a Restomod refers to a car with a stock-looking exterior hiding a thoroughly modified and modern suspension and powertrain sprinkled with a dab of comfort and convenience features. The seller of this 1972 Chevrolet Vega GT Kammback originally listed in July 2021 on Craigslist in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh) for $21,500 calls his car a Restomod but we disagree. Between the subtle front clip flames trying a nitrous-injected, Weiand 6-71 blown small block, the painted side murals, and the full roll cage, this Vega screams old school street machine. The only modern nod noted in the description is a 70oR4 automatic we assume helps make this Vega somewhat streetable when you’re not at the stoplight drags. The asking price is well above the Collector Car Marketplace’s top estimate of $9,600, so the price requested here is likely well below the you-can’t-build-it-for-this threshold.
Here’s the seller’s description:
“1972 Chevy Vega GT Kammback Wagon RestoMod

Transmission: 700 R4 4-speed automatic w/ overdrive
3.36 10-Bolt rear
