Tempting Turquoise: 1954 Ford Crestline Four Door Sedan – Sold?
August 19, 2021 Update – We just confirmed the listing for this vintage Ford “Classifind” expired, so with no replacement found we’re assuming this ride “Sold?” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call us directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
In 1952, Ford Marketers introduced the new term “Crestline” to denote the top trim level above its existing “Mainline” and “Customline” brands. Ford used the term for three model years through 1954 before it was phased out in 1955 with the launch of the “Fairlane” brand. We spotted a well-optioned 1954 Ford Crestline originally listed in July 2021 on Craigslist in Springfield, Massachusetts that benefits from an older cosmetic restoration that is now offered for $15,900. Comparing that price against the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms the private seller has their Crestline priced between this guide’s #2 “Excellent” estimate of $13,100 and its #1 “Concours” appraisal of $20,000. Interestingly, the Collector Car Market Review Online Tool reveals the asking price is in line with this guide’s #1 “Excellent” appraisal of $14,100 before factoring in premiums for the V8 and automatic transmission.
The most exciting news for the ’54 Crestline sedan was the fact it came standard with Ford’s new 239 cubic inch overhead valve “Y” block V8 that replaced the company’s famous flathead V8 dating back to 1932. If you have nearly thirty minutes to kill, the Aaron Maynard YouTube channel provides this great collage of 1954 Ford commercials from that year:
This ’54 Crestline’s great photographs are what caught our attention first and then the more we studied it, we realized there is a lot of classic Ford offered here for the money. If you’re looking for a nice classic Ford to enjoy for not a lot of money, this Crestline may be the car for you.
Here’s the seller’s description:
