Sleeper Sedan: 1962 Ford Falcon Futura Restomod – SOLD!

by | Jul 2021 | Classifinds, Free For All Friday

August 19, 2021 Update – we confirmed the seller of this Falcon Street Machine “Classifind” deleted their listing, so we’re now able to call this one “SOLD!” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call us directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.

Like it or not, our trend to feature an early Ford Falcon on Free For All Friday continues with this stunning platinum gray over bright red leather 1962 Futura restomod two-door coupe originally listed in July 2021 on Craigslist in Woodbridge, New Jersey that appears to be a well-sorted example offered at $25,000 firm. Not surprisingly, the seller’s firm asking price is well above both the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool’s  #1 “Concours” appraisal of $21,300 and the  Collector Car Market Review Online Tool’s #1 “Excellent” appraisal of $13,300 for stock examples. Based on the specs and equipment the seller’s ask is likely a bargain versus trying to replicate what is already completed and ready to run.

Not only is this 400 horsepower, four-speed-Toploader-equipped Falcon prepared to run very fast one quarter-mile at a time, but you and your passengers can do it in comfort with a nicely integrated under-dash air conditioning system. The only thing we would change once under our ownership is to find a qualified upholsterer capable of matching the rear bench seat with the front leather buckets.

While Ford relied on the Peanuts Cartoon characters to sell 1962 Falcons in the U.S., we found this ad from Argentina that relied on a completely different theme:

Here’s the seller’s description:

“1962 Ford Falcon Futura 2 Door. Most everything is new or rebuilt within the last four years. 400hp 351W, 4-speed Toploader, 3.55 posi 8” rear, front disc brake conversion, ice-cold a/c, original Ford glass, etc. $25k Not desperate to sell. Will not entertain sight-unseen offers or any other shenanigans. Please put HOT ROD in the subject line or I will not respond. Thanks
