AACA Candidate: 1983 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Coupe – SOLD!

If you’re looking for a great low-mileage survivor classic car on a budget that can serve dual-duty as both an Antique Automobile Club of America (“AACA”) Preservation Class judging candidate as well as a nicely optioned, traditional six-passenger rear-wheel-drive to use for the club’s touring events, this one-only, 39,000 original mile 1983 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale coupe originally listed in July 2021 on Craigslist in Malvern, Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) might just fit the bill with an asking price of $11,300. Comparing that price against the  Collector Car Market Review Online Tool confirms the asking price is nearly one thousand dollars above this guide’s #1 “Excellent” appraisal of $9,375 so we hope there is a bit of negotiation room considering it appears the standard Buick-sourced 231 cubic inch V6 powers this Olds rather than the more desirable 350 cubic inch Rocket V8.

Launched for the 1977 model year, the downsized “B” body-based eight-generation Delta 88 Oldsmobile line received more rounded sheet metal and revised rooflines for the 1980 model year designed to improve fuel economy.  Beyond minor trim and power train updates, the Delta 88 line remained largely unchanged by the time the car featured here came down the assembly line in 1983.
