Final Fullsize: 1996 Ford Bronco XLT – $15,000
With all the hoopla surrounding Ford finally launching its long-anticipated Bronco (no, not the Bronco Sport crossover launched last year that has everyone confused), it was fun to come across a 1996 full-size body-on-frame example of the brand currently listed here on Craigslist in Nassau, New York (Long Island). 1996 was the final year of production of big Broncos as sales of Ford’s highly popular Explorer four-door SUV continued to cannibalize sales.
This well-worn example in need of an interior refresh and repair of visible rust is currently priced at $15,000. We were thinking that ask might be in contention for our “NEW!” (short for “No Effin Way!”) Award until the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirmed the private seller has their Bronco XLT priced between this guide’s #4 “Fair” estimate of $13,800 and its #2 “Good” appraisal of $20,400.
Ford produced the sixth and final generation of F-Series-based Broncos for the 1992 through 1996 model years. Engineers designed this latest edition Bronco was with safety in mind, incorporating front crumple zones, rear shoulder seat belts, a third brake light embedded in the removable top, and after 1994, driver-side airbags. Due to the third light and shoulder belts being safety equipment integrated into the top, the top was no longer legally removable and all literature in the owner’s manuals that had previously explained how to take the top off was removed. Cosmetic exterior and interior changes included a sweeping front end and a new dash. Power mirrors were also offered for the first time, and in 1996 the Bronco became the first vehicle to incorporate turn signal lights in the mirrors. No major drivetrain changes occurred.
We came across this twenty-minute video showing the production line of this generation of Bronco being manufactured posted by the DPCCars YouTube Channel:
Normally when you see a truck with visible rust around the wheels wells, that’s a sign the undercarriage will have even more. Perhaps a victim of saltwater (somewhat common on Long Island) rather than road salt explains why this Bronco’s underside appears nearly new while its fender wells and several other exterior areas need immediate rust repair. As mentioned above the interior is well-worn for the 99K miles traveled, so you’ll need to attend to that as well. If you are serious about buying this Bronco and have the cash, you can start the conversation by emailing the private seller. When you connect, please remember to mention you saw their TR-250 featured here on GuysWithRides.com. Good luck with the purchase!
Here’s the seller’s thorough description that includes links to videos of their Bronco:

SUPER RARE LAST YEAR 1996 FORD BRONCO XLT 5.8L SUPER LOW 99K MILES!
BARELY ANY OF THESE LEFT IN THE COUNTRY, THE 96 WITH 5.8L AND UNDER 100K MILES!
THESE trucks sell for about $35k to $45k Ive seen if MINT! But I rarely see the 1996 LAST year ever made and with the larger 5.8L bigger engine made.
For those who prefer a cheaper more economical Bronco for less than half of what it would sell for MINT, here you go! Runs and drives MINT! Starts right up! NO smoking no overheating, no smells/etc! Runs very quiet and well and transmission shifts beautifully! It has only 99k ORIGINAL MILEAGE as you can verify with Carfax or Autocheck and see its never been in any accident either. BRAND NEW NY INSPECTION STICKER W/RECEIPT AS YOU SEE SEPTEMBER 2022 EXPIRATION! You will see also picture NO CHECK ENGINE lights or pending faults! To just show you its a Legit Mint Running functioning bronco! Also New Front and Rear shocks so the Bronco isnt bouncy and uncomfortable. VERY TIGHT feeling ride! The low mileage is the reason!
Frame is MINT, no rotted at all. The undercarriage is overall very Clean, no rotted like some. You can see the Body, NEEDS TLC, the rear quarter panels could use repair and a nice paint job would make this perfect looking! —The interior had the carpet removed and had that bed liner type material put in, since it was used as fun weekend truck before by previous owner before me. I had it for about a year or so! And I had plans to RESTORE IT like a Show truck but I dont have the patience or time right now. FOR OTHERS it will be a FUN project and clean up slowly BUT MECHANICALLY get in and LOVE IT!
—-Tires are MINT like New with a lot of tread left. The truck had all new Brake work done as well. I just put in BRAND NEW Shorty Performance Headers/Exhaust Manifolds with FULL Exhaust BRAND NEW! Brand New PaceSetter 70-1325 Black Shorty Exhaust Headers, High Flow Magnaflow Catalytic converters, with New performance Jegs Muffler with Dual Pipes as you can see. Barely has 50 miles on the ENTIRE exhaust. So of course it has Brand New Exhaust Manifold exhausts with the Headers, which is why I wanted to change the headers and let the truck breathe better! It has the Cats so street legal anywhere! The exhaust sounds VERY nice deep sound but not too loud, you can see the pictures of the muffler and pipes underneath. Also Brand New Front and Rear Shocks, you can see if you look under truck, not even 50 miles on that. As well as brand New MotorCraft Spark Plugs, Wires were done with tune up also a while ago. The TRUCK DRIVES LIKE A BEAST, and sounds Mean with the exhaust.
—-Also You can see the CLEAR Pictures and VIDEOS down below. IM NOT HIDING ANYTHING or making it look prettier than reality. So the PRICE IS $15K FIRM! If not sold this month, I will probably start restoring it and keep it for myself! BUt I have too many cars laying around! Please no offers cause THOSE are people who DO NOT KNOW the value of these NOR appreciate its a 1996 LAST YEAR and the 5.8L WITH only 99k ORIGINAL MILEAGE! This will probably sell right away for the guy who wants!
EMAILS WILL BE IGNORED AND UNSEEN AS WELL AS TXTS! DON’T BE SCARED TO CALL IF YOU ARE SERIOUS AND READY WITH $15K NO TRADES PLEASE DONT ANNOY ME!“
