Red Wagon Replica: 1965 Dodge A100 Street Machine – Sold?
Even non Drag Racing fans of a certain age likely have seen pictures of Bill Maverick’s famous Lil’ Red Wagon complete an entire quarter-mile pass on just two wheels. The original famous Dodge A-100 truck relied on a bed-mounted Mopar V8 to perform such antics. If you always wanted a street-legal version of the Lil’ Red Wagon, now is your chance as this custom 440-powered, 1965 Dodge A-100 currently originally listed in October 2021 on Criagslist in Paxton, Massachusetts (Worcester) appears to look the part at $27,500. Comparing that price against the Collector Car Market Review Online Tool confirms the asking price is six thousand dollars above this guide’s #1 “Excellent” appraisal of $21,500 for a stock example, however, the premium here is the “you can’t build it for this price” despite it being an older restoration.
If you haven’t seen the original Lil’ Red Wagon in action, here’s a video of it making a pass:
Here’s the seller’s description:
“For sale is a 1965 Dodge A100 pick up. It’s an older restoration, with a big block 440, torque flight 727 automatic transmission, and an 8 3/4 posi rear differential with 3:91 gears. Undercarriage is solid, original and rust free. Complete custom interior, viper red paint, red LED halos , exhaust cutouts that can run through mufflers of the zoomies out the sides, wheelie bars add to the uniqueness of this pick up. Runs and drives well, could use a little tlc. Brakes work but pedal a little soft, switch for the exhaust cutouts is loose. Front leaf spring bushings are worn and clunk occasionally over bumps. Fuel gauge is not connected to tank in bed, but there is a mechanical gauge on that tank you can see.
Overall it’s a really cool truck that turns heads everywhere you drive it.
