Unusual Ute: 1975 Chevrolet Vega Custom Pickup – Sold?
November 1, 2021 Update – We just confirmed the listing for this “Classifind” expired, so with no replacement found we’re assuming this ride “Sold?” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call us directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
If you’re a dedicated Chevy fan and in need of an El Camino yet you prefer to stand out from the crowd, then perhaps this 1975 Chevrolet Vega pickup conversion originally listed in October 2021 on Craigslist in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin (Milwaukee) might be the ride for you. This unique ute appears to have started life as a Vega Kammback two-door wagon before the builder set out to convert it into an El Camino style Ute. While they were at it, they dropped in a 327 cubic inch small block V8 mated to a Turbo Hydramatic 350.
Currently offered at $12,000, comparing that price against the Collector Car Market Review Online Tool reveals the asking price is only two thousand dollars above this guide’s #1 “Excellent” appraisal of $10,000 for a stock Vega wagon. At $12,000, this is a “you can’t replicate it for this” price.
With only a headliner and “a few other items” needing completion, you can spend the winter months putting the finishing touches on what will be a conversation piece everywhere you drive it.
Here’s the seller’s description:
“Very cool Vega Conversion. A certain head-turner.
Engine:
327 Chevy 275 Hp with new Holley Carburetor, alternator, plugs and wires, chrome air cleaner and valve covers, battery and refurbished radiator.
Transmission:
Turbo 350 with floor-mounted shifter.
Drivetrain:
New shocks, front springs, rear upper and lower control arms, 4 wheel disc brakes, rack and pinion steering and 20 falling fuel cell in bed.
New white paint, door handles, rearview mirrors, side pipes, dash panel, and gauges with GPS speedometer. Camaro 15” wheels with new tires, hydraulic lift tonneau cover, and welded sub-frame connectors.
Needs a headliner and a few other minor items to be truly complete, but a very well-done conversion overall. Extremely unique and fun.“
