Big Block: 1982 Chevrolet C10 Stepside – Sold?
November 8, 2021 Update – We just confirmed the listing for this “Classifind” expired, so with no replacement found we’re assuming this ride “Sold?” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call us directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.
Among the Square Body Chevrolet pickups produced between 1973 and 1987, Hot Rodders gravitate towards the Stepside-bodied C10 as the base for their builds. This big-block-powered 1982 Silverado street machine currently originally listed in October 2021 on Craigslist in Amsterdam, New York (Schenectady) appears to be a nicely customized example complete with painted flames and offered at $13,500 currently. Comparing that price against the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms the private seller has their C10 priced between this guide’s #3 “good” estimate of $10,800 and its #2 “Excellent” appraisal of $18,200. Interestingly, the Collector Car Market Review Online Tool reveals the seller’s ask falls between this guide’s #3 “good” estimate of $10,500 and its #2 “Very Good” appraisal of $49,500.
Ironically nicknamed “Square Bodies” today, Chevrolet called its third generation of C/K trucks introduced in 1973 the “Rounded Line” as their new truck featured many radius details not traditionally seen on pickup trucks up to that point. Rounded details included: windshield corners, cab roof corners, door frames that cut high into the cab roof, slanted front fenders, and rounded pickup box corners. Production of third-generation C/K’s lasted through the 1987 model year with only minor changes. Despite all of the modern features, Chevrolet still offered traditional step-side beds lined with a wood-planked floor.
We came across this not-intended-for-the-public Chevrolet training video from 1982 intended to provide sales teams with ammunition to sell against Ford for the 1982 model year:
With Square Body Chevy values continuing to go up in value, it’s hard to find decent examples for under $15,000 these days. If this 1982 C10 Stepside looks just as good underneath and in the rocker panels, you should jump at the chance to buy it before the private seller learns they might have it priced too low.
Here’s the seller’s description:
