Chevrolet launched the completely redesigned C4 Corvette for the 1984 model year.  In 1986, Chevrolet doubled the model range with the introduction of a Convertible version, the first since 1975.  For 1987, changes to the Chevrolet C4 Corvette were subtle. Chevy’s L98 V-8 engine continued to displace 350 cubic inches but now used roller rockers, raising output to 240 horsepower. Power still went to the rear wheels through the Doug Nash “4+3” manual transmission, with overdrive for the top three gears.

The private seller indicates that he first came across this 1987 Corvette in the late 1980s when his company started storing the car on behalf of the bank that repossessed it from the first owner in 1989.  This Corvette then remained in climate-controlled storage for several years. When the original owner could not pay the storage fees to get the car back after paying off the bank loan, the current owner took actual ownership of the car in 2003. Consequently, this is a 1987 Corvette convertible equipped with the rare Doug Nash “4+3” manual transmission that is a two-owner survivor car with just under 12K original miles.

As the pictures and video indicate, this C4 Corvette presents and drives in excellent condition with only a few blemishes to speak of that are mainly around where the convertible top meets the top boot. The bright red interior presents in excellent condition and we observed the digital dash displays brightly.  Given the cool temperatures the morning we photographed, we could not get the air conditioner to engage.  The second owner also indicated at the time of photography the heater blower motor remains running even after shutting the car off. He is in the process of looking to have that sole known issue resolved before the sale.

The picture below provides a complimentary CarFax® you can click on to confirm this 1987 Corvette Convertible has not been in any accidents. Unfortunately, upon running the CarFax we discovered the mileage indicated in 2003 was incorrectly entered as 103,010 when the correct mileage at time was 10,310.  The current owner is currently working with CarFax to try and get that resolved. We believe the condition of this C4 is proof the low miles the seller indicates to be true.

The mileage reading is a huge problem for the seller. The car looks great but buyers will
have a hard time getting past the high mileage reading from carfax that is wrong.
It will also effect the cars value in the future. Buyers will think it is a bad investment.
I love the car very clean. I live in California so shipping cost and the mileage issue is a bad
purchase for me also, to bad sweet ride, Have a great day Rudy very cool auction site just found it last week, Take care, Jeff.

Might be Interested if the Carfax was fixed. Also, “wailing” on the car in the video doesn’t help much either. Thanks.

Thanks, as you can imagine it takes a lot of time and effort convincing the CarFax people to change a mileage error. As for how he drove the car in the video, the owner of the past twenty year’s point was to show how fun the C4 really is.

I would like to see a new Carfax report re: the correct mileage.

We all would. The seller is still working through trying to get that resolved. If you saw the car in person, you would have no reason to doubt the car only has 12K miles.
