Normally, a lack of a car’s pertinent information usually has us moving on to the next potential listing. However, in the case of this Shelby Cobra replica originally listed in February 2021 on Craigslist in Fort Meyers, Florida, the seller’s description of why he bought this car is a reminder for all of us why we want to own a classic car. Beyond his motivational description, the seller leaves out a wealth of details about who manufactured this replica kit. Even more perplexing is the fact he listed the car as a 1969 model. Shelby stopped producing Cobras after 1967, so we’re not sure what the seller is referring to.

I have always wanted one since 1965. Carl Shelby would race at the Bridgehampton NY race track and work on his cars at the local Buick garage. As kid I would watch his team work on them.. I had slot cars later in life and dreamed of owning a real Cobra. So when I retired in 2010 I decided to give my self a retire present, a Factory Five Cobra kit. I went to there factory several times to there open house and was ready to order one. I just happen to look in a Hemmings book and there were three Cobras at this mussel car dealer in NJ. One was a Continuation model ,way to expensive for me and one was a Back Draft to expensive and a Factory Five. The price was a little low so I called about it and was tolled it did not run right. A few days later I went to the dealer to look and test drive it and bought it had it shipped home and did some work on it and I’ve been driven it since. I’ve had it now for ten years. The hole point of this story is , Never give up on a dream.
