Besides pulling a trailer, the hardest thing you can ask a truck to do is plow snow. Not only is it tough on the front end of the frame, but the constant exposure to road salt can leave the body in ruins in just a few seasons. Luckily, the extensive galvanized steel body of this 1978 Dodge W150 Adventurer originally listed in March 2022 on Craigslist in Mcconnellsburg, Pennsylvania (Chambersburg) appears to have bucked that tendency despite it featuring all of its plow equipment intact. The seller reports their Dodge “runs strong and everything works.”
Currently offered for $7,300 or best offer, comparing that price against the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms the private seller has their W150 priced one hundred dollars above this guide’s #4 “Fair” (Daily Driver) estimate of $7,200. Similarly, the Collector Car Market Review Online Tool confirms the seller’s ask falls between this guide’s #4 “Fair” estimate of $5,725 and its #3 “Good” appraisal of $10,500. With the prices of trucks continuing to rise, if you can get this truck for $7,000 there’s a strong chance you’ll be able to sell it in a few years for at least that same amount.
Dodge introduced its redesigned third-generation D series pickups in 1972 and produced them through the 1980 model year with only minor changes. In addition to its more rounded look over the prior version, third-generation D Series featured an independent front suspension and innovative recessed tail lights design to prevent being damaged when loading the bed. These trucks were built with a considerable amount of galvanized steel to resist rust and corrosion, as the example featured here exemplifies.

That looks like a “home made” plow setup so it likely led a sheltered life.
I’m looking at a 1978 adventurer rear wheel Drive single cab with the 440 in it. From what I have seen there were only 78 of them built. Any idea on the value of this truck? Also how to confirm the rarity thanks.
