1960 Pontiac Bonneville Sport Coupe – $6,200 RNM

March 30, 2022 Update: The high bid did not meet the seller’s reserve price. At the seller’s discretion, he’s decided to list the car elsewhere. We appreciate the opportunity and we wish him nothing but the best.

The Guys With Rides team is proud to offer this driver quality 1960 Pontiac Bonneville Two Door Sport Coupe in an online reserve style auction on behalf of the private seller. Bidding opened Wednesday, March 16, 2022, and will continue for fourteen (14) consecutive days ending at 6:00 PM Eastern time on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.

This vintage Bonneville current resides as part of a collection in Ringoes, New Jersey which is approximately one hour’s drive from Newark International Airport.

Please note: we first featured this car for auction in November of 2021. However, after no bids were placed, the seller elected to hold off trying to sell the car over the winter. With spring now finally beginning to arrive, we restarted the bidding for this driver-quality Bonneville.

1960 Pontiac Bonneville Sport Coupe – $6,200 RNM

Pontiac launched the second generation, lower and wider Bonneville in 1959 with a new split grille design combined with the brand’s new “Wide Track” marketing slogan. The biggest change for 1960 was the elimination of the twin tail fins with the placement of the taillights now on the top of the rear fenders. Styling of the 1960 Big Pontiacs was regarded as among the cleanest within the GM brands that year.

Bill, the current caretaker of this driver quality 1960 Pontiac Bonneville, purchased the car several years ago with the intent to add a period-correct Tri-Power setup combined with a conversion to a manual four-speed. As is the case when multiple projects compete for time and space, Bill never had the time to accomplish that goal and now would like to regain the garage space for other priorities.

As the pictures and video illustrate, this is a solid driver-quality car. Sourced from Arizona, the car received an amateur restoration a number of years ago. As part of that process, the interior was completely redone and while it presents very nicely, it was redone using custom aftermarket materials.

It’s a 389 cubic inch V8 under the hood. The “X” frame is solid. We will have a detailed undercarriage video posted when we start the auction.

The orig auto trans is a 4 speed Hyda-Matic for a 1959-64 Bonny.
1965 up went to the Th400. 3 speed
59-60 Catalina used the 4 speed Hydra-matic and went to the 3 speed Roto 10 slush box 61-64

    Listing says 3 speed.
