1985 Chevrolet Corvette 4+3 Coupe – SOLD Locally!

Chevrolet launched the completely redesigned C4 Corvette for the 1984 model year.  In 1986, Chevrolet doubled the model range with the introduction of a Convertible version, the first since 1975.  For 1985, changes to the Chevrolet C4 Corvette were subtle. Chevrolet engineers replaced the Crossfire Fuel Injection with a new Tuned Port Induction system on the 5.7 Liter V8. The new system combined with Electronic Spark Control helped the 1985 Corvette achieve 230 SAE net horsepower at 4,000 RPM. The long air intake runners were tuned for a flat torque curve to provide a flat torque curve with 330 lb.-ft., maximum torque at 3,200 RPM. The net result is stunning performance in every gear.  Power still went to the rear wheels through the Doug Nash “4+3” manual transmission, with overdrive for the top three gears. When Chevrolet launched Corvette in 1953, the company could only pull together three hundred units, all of which came in Polo White with a red interior.

Bill is the second owner of this driver-quality Corvette who purchased the car in 2003 when this Corvette had just under fifty thousand miles. Under his long-term ownership, Bill has kept the car mechanically and electrically up-to-date whenever something needed to be repaired. Most recently, Bill had the entire air conditioning system refurbished and we confirmed the A/C system works properly. The Doug Nash “4+3” manual transmission benefits from a full rebuild and replacement clutch installed just ten thousand miles ago. Bill also reports that the tires are now just three years old.  Additionally, Bill reports the original digital dash has been completely replaced and works like new.

Based on our test drive and photography session, we can confirm this Corvette pulls hard, drives nicely, and does not show any signs of oil leaks or burning.

Do you have a picture of the build sheet please? It’s usually located under the compartment behind the driver’s seat.

Yes, it is hard to tell but this C4 has the optional Acrylic (they are often incorrectly called glass tops – glass would be too heavy for a full Targa) transparent top. As is the case, the acrylic dulled with age.
