When Lincoln launched the curvy and aerodynamic Continental Mark VII LSC in 1984, it was a stunning departure from the boxy and downsized prior generation, and the lines of the car such as this 1986 example featured here continue to pass the test of time.

Introduced in the summer of 1983 as a 1984 model, Lincoln’s new rear-wheel-drive Continental Mark VII luxury coupe shared its version Ford Fox platform with the Ford Thunderbird, Mercury Cougar, and Lincoln Continental.  In addition to its curvy and aerodynamic styling, the Mark VII held a lengthy standard equipment list. While innovative at launch, the Mark VII’s four-wheel air suspension proved to be expensive to repair, and over time many owners replaced it on their cars with a cost-effective traditional coil spring setup. However, we are pleased to report the car featured here at auction retains its original suspension should no signs of sagging or other problems during the inspection. The 1985 LSC was the first American vehicle with electronic 4-channel anti-lock brakes, nearly six months before Chevrolet’s Corvette. Mark VII also had the distinction of being the first American vehicle since 1940 with composite headlights.  Ford lobbied hard at the time to get the European-style flush-mounted headlamps approved for this car as well as several others in Ford’s line-up at the time.

The current caretaker purchased this 1986 Lincoln Mark VII LSC approximately one year ago as a garage find.  The elderly original owner took meticulous care of the car and that is particularly noticeable in the interior and trunk.  The exterior paint exhibits some chips, dings, and scratches commensurate with the car’s age, however, a thorough detailing will make the original metallic paint really stand out.

Is that a big scratch on the hood or is that a leaf? Do you have any photos of the hood looking down at it from above?

Martin, is is a brown leaf on the hood. Unfortunately, they kept falling down on the hood as I filmed the car. Five seconds into the video provided, you can see the leaf on the hood. To the left of that leaf is a blurry white object reflected from above, not a scratch. Had there been one, I would have noted it as I did with other blemishes found on the car.
