Mazda rocked the automotive world at the Chicago Auto Show in February 1989 with its new MX-5 sports car featuring a base price of under $14,000.  After a nearly ten-year gap left when British Leyland packed up MG and Triumph in 1980, Mazda took a gamble that consumers were still interested in two-seat classic sports cars as long as they came with better reliability, tops that sealed passengers from the elements, and a great driving experience.  Mazda succeeded at all three and the first generation “NA” Mazda was a huge sales success. Thirty years on, the first generation Miata has proven to be a very reliable car, whether used on the street or the track.  Consequently, it’s getting harder to find driver-quality examples such as this example featured here at auction.

To help acquaint you with the original standard features and available options on this 1991 Mazda MX-5 Miata Special Edition, you can click on the picture below to review the original U.S. print advertising from that model year:

In the spring of 1991, Mazda offered the first of what would be a series of Miata special editions for the North American market.  Limited to 4,000 units in the United States, this edition of the MX-5 NA only came in British Racing Green with a tan leather interior and tonneau cover. Other interior appointments included a wooden Nardi shift knob and handbrake lever, stainless steel door sills, air conditioning, CD player, cruise control, and headrest speakers. Other than the wear of the driver-side carpet consistent with the age and mileage of this Miata, the seller notes a small dent over the right rear wheel fender.

The second caretaker and seller of this 65.3K original mile 1991 Mazda Miata is number 1,894 of the 4,000 series run. In addition to benefitting from being garaged its entire life, the seller reports his MX-5 received regular oil changes and tuneups when needed. Most recently this Miata received a clutch replacement. The seller notes his Miata is completely stock and the matching removable hardtop is included as part of the sale.

It says “here’s the exterior, Here’s the interior, Here’s the Underhood, etc.”, but there are no pictures. Any ideas? IS it a problem on my end?
