August 25, 2022, Update – We just confirmed the listing for this “Classifind” expired, so with no replacement found, we’re assuming this ride is “Sold?” While this one got away, please reach out either by email or call us directly if you’d like to be informed when we come across something similar.

July 20, 2022 Update – We just came across a fresh Craigslist ad designed to replace the seller’s previous expired listing. In it, the pictures, description, and asking price all remain the same.

While Chevrolet’s redesigned full-size model range and brand new 265 cubic inch small block V8 stole the show in the fall of 1954, cross-town rival Ford also introduced a completely restyled lineup for the 1955 model year. The new top of the model range was now the Fairlane; within that model line, the Crown Victoria was the top trim level. This red-and-white 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria, originally listed in June 2022 on Craigslist in Asbury, New Jersey, appears to be a nice driver-quality example. You’ll need to confirm with the seller whether their Crown Vic benefitted from restoration at some point or is, in fact, a survivor-quality example.

Currently offered for a non-negotiable $27,500, Classic.com, the analytics and search engine for the collector car market, confirms the ask is well below the one-year rolling average of this guide’s summary for first-generation Crown Victorias produced between 1955 and 1956.  By clicking on the green dots in the graph below, you can navigate to each comparable car sold as a way to help you evaluate the price of the truck featured here:

As a second data point, the  Collector Car Market Review Online Tool reveals the seller’s ask falls between this guide’s #2 Very Good” estimate of $33,400 and its #1 “Excellent” appraisal of $50,700.

In 1955, Ford introduced the Fairlane as the brand’s premium model range. Slotted above the Victoria two-door hardtop, the Crown Victoria debuted as the flagship trim of the Fairlane. In place of the popular pillarless hardtop, the Crown Victoria featured a B-pillared roofline. Similar to the Mercury XM-800 concept car (though changed in angle), the B-pillar came fitted with a wide stainless steel band (“crowning” the roof), giving a sleeker appearance to the roofline.

The MoskvaMorten YouTube Channel features this 1955 Ford commercial reviewing the company’s new-for-1955 styling:

With its red and white color combination and fresh triple-carburetor setup, this 1955 Ford Crown Victoria appears to be an honestly presented, driver-quality example you can enjoy as-is for the summer and, if desired, perhaps spend the winter months improving the car further to take it to the next level.

Here’s the seller’s description:
