The 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia Camper Wolfsburg Edition was a unique and iconic vehicle that captured the spirit of adventure and freedom associated with the Volkswagen camper vans. It was part of the second generation of the Vanagon series, which was produced from 1980 to 1991.

The Westfalia Camper Wolfsburg Edition was a special trim level offered by Volkswagen, named after the city of Wolfsburg, Germany, where Volkswagen’s headquarters are located. This edition incorporated several additional features and enhancements compared to the standard Vanagon models, making it highly sought after by camping enthusiasts and Volkswagen enthusiasts alike.

One of the key features of the Westfalia Camper Wolfsburg Edition was its pop-top roof. This allowed for additional headroom and sleeping space inside the van when camping. The pop-top could be easily raised or lowered, providing a comfortable sleeping area with a bed and canvas walls to keep insects out while allowing for ventilation.

Inside the van, the Wolfsburg Edition featured a well-designed and practical layout. It included a small kitchenette area with a sink, a two-burner propane stove, and a refrigerator. There were also storage cabinets and compartments for utensils, cookware, and food supplies. The van was equipped with fresh and gray water tanks, ensuring a convenient camping experience.

The seating area in the Wolfsburg Edition could be converted into a comfortable bed, allowing for sleeping accommodations for up to four people. The rear bench seat could be folded to create a spacious sleeping area, while the front seats could swivel to face the living area. This versatile layout made the van suitable for both camping and everyday use.

In terms of powertrain, the 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia Camper Wolfsburg Edition was typically equipped with a 1.9-liter water-cooled four-cylinder engine, which produced around 83 horsepower. It featured a manual transmission, typically with four forward gears. The rear-wheel-drive configuration provided decent performance on the road, while the compact size of the van made it relatively maneuverable.

The exterior of the Wolfsburg Edition showcased some unique design elements. It typically featured two-tone paint, with a solid color on the bottom and a contrasting color on the top. The Volkswagen logo and Wolfsburg Edition badges were prominently displayed on the body. The van had large windows for ample natural light and ventilation, and it often had a full-size spare tire mounted on the rear.

The 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia Camper Wolfsburg Edition was a highly regarded vehicle for camping and adventure enthusiasts. Its compact size, practical interior layout, and additional features made it a versatile and comfortable camper van. The Wolfsburg Edition added a touch of exclusivity and style, making it a cherished classic among Volkswagen enthusiasts to this day.
