July 16, 2023 Update – Eights days into their Craigslist ad, the seller elected to lower their asking by two large from $41,900 to $39,900.

Many consumers believe the modern four-door Jeep Gladiator is Jeep’s first foray into offering a CJ/Wrangler-based pickup. However, that honor goes to the CJ-8 Scrambler Jeep offered from 1981 through 1986.  A long-wheelbase version of the company’s CJ-7, the Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler featured a 103.5-inch wheelbase and a removable half cab, creating a small pick-up style box instead of using a separate pickup bed. “1982 Jeep Scrambler. 81k miles. I’ve owned it for seven years. Jeep was on a ten thousand-acre ranch in Texas. I have two folders full of paperwork. All new hoses, belts, gaskets, fluids, carb rebuild, etc. Original paint and decals. Power steering, power brakes, T5 transmission, and factory radio with updated speakers behind the dash. The Jeep has had no issues since I’ve owned it. All AC equipment is present but has not been refreshed. I installed NOS seats and found an early take-off soft top with all hardware. I also have a half-hard top and hard doors. The front and rear bumpers are NOS. Anything I did was to keep it as original to factory as possible. This is an SR Jeep, but the prior owner installed Laredo wheels and matching bumpers. It left the factory with a soft top like the one in the pics. Never driven in the weather since 2005. I change the oil every year, and it gets driven weekly unless it’s rainy. Rust-free and solid original Jeep.”
