July 21, 2023 Update – Seven days after first posting their Craigslist ad, the seller of this ’76 Bonneville lowered their asking price from $15,750 to $15,500.

The 1973 OPEC Oil Embargo made a lasting impression in many consumers’ minds as they waited in long lines to (hopefully) fill up their gas-guzzling full-size cars.  That, combined with increasing emissions and safety regulations, forced General Motors designers to plan a major downsize for the 1977 model year.  Consequently, the 1976 model year is considered by many to be the swan song of full-size, body-on-frame, rear-wheel-drive design by general motors.

This dark red 31.3K-Mile 1976 Pontiac Bonneville Brougham Coupe For sale, first spotted in July 2023 on Craiglist in Brownwood, Texas (Dallas), represents the final year of the fifth-generation Pontiac full-size offering.  Despite its extremely low mileage, the seller notes their Bonneville benefits from a repaint.  The seller does not indicate which engine their Bonneville features. With only 31.3K original miles, we really hoped we could call this 1976 Pontiac Bonneville Brougham Coupe a “survivor.” However, the seller notes their car benefits from one repaint, so that precludes us from awarding this example that term.  Repaint aside, this is an excellently maintained example that is likely a blast to drive long distances on Texas highways.
