1979 marked the final model year for Ford’s unique part-pickup, part-car offering, the Ranchero. Apparently, Ford enthusiasts forty-four years ago believed that final-year Rancheros might be worth something someday as we regularly come across extremely low-mileage, like-new, survivor-quality examples.
Our latest is this 6,257 original mile, all-green, 1979 Ford Ranchero GT for sale, first spotted in August 2023 on Craigslist in Kalispell, Montana. The seller’s brief description lets the pictures do the talking about their low-mileage barn find. While many shades of green from the 1970s should stay in that decade, the jade green metallic is a beautiful shade that has aged very well.
Currently offered for $29,600, Classic.com, the analytics and search engine for the collector car market, confirms the ask is at the high end of this guide’s five-year rolling results trend for similar 1979 Ford Ranchero examples. As a second data point, the downloadable 2023 Old Cars Price Guide Big Book confirms the seller’s ask falls between this guide’s #3 “Good” estimate of $24,750 and its #2 “Very Good” appraisal of $38,500 for a completely stock example.
