April 11, 2024 Update – Two-and-a-half years ago we assumed the seller of this ’59 Lincoln Continental Mark IV  found a buyer when they deleted their Craigslist ad. Fast forward to today and we were surprised to come across the same car, using most of the same pictures, once again offered for sale. While the seller continues to use the same basic description, this time around they decided to list their Lincoln Land Yacht for $16,000.

November 4, 2021 Update – We confirmed the seller of this “Classifind” deleted their listing, so we’re now able to call this one “SOLD!” Unless we come across a replacement listing.

October 22, 2021 Update – We just noticed the private seller lowered the asking price by five hundred dollars to an even $18,000.

If you’re looking for a fun trivia question the next you want to stump your fellow car lovers, ask them what was the first year Lincoln made the Continental Mark IV.  While most will incorrectly yet confidently reply, “1972” after you read this post you’ll know it was actually 1959. This 1959 Lincoln Continental Mark IV Coupe for sale , first spotted in October 2021 on Craigslist in Doylestown, Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) serves as proof first used the “Mark IV” moniker for their 1959 offering in a similar vein as Chrysler did with its early 300 letter cars.

A daily-driver quality car in need of a restoration, the private seller currently wants $16,000 (the original ask in the fall of 2021 was $18,500).  Comparing that price against the Hagerty Insurance Online Valuation Tool confirms the private seller has their Mark IV optimistically priced between this guide’s #3 “Good” estimate of $13,700 and its #2 “Very Good” appraisal of $24,500.  Interestingly, the  Collector Car Market Review Online Tool proves the seller’s ask now falls below this guide’s #4 “Fair” (Daily Driver) estimate of $18,000.
